A court in Narayanganj on Sunday placed former textiles and jute minister Golam Dastagir Gazi on a fresh six-day remand in two separate murder cases.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Hakim Haider Ali passed the order after the police produced him before the court on Sunday afternoon in separate cases and sought 10 days to grill Gazi, also the chairman of Gazi Group.

The court placed Gazi a three-day remand in each of the cases respectively, said Court Inspector Abdur Rashid.

On August 25, detectives arrested the former minister at a house in Shantinagar of Dhaka.
Later on that day, a Narayanganj court granted the police a six-day remand of the former lawmaker in a case filed over the murder of schoolboy Roman Mia in the district.

Gazi was elected as the Awami League candidate from the Narayanganj-1 constituency in the 12th parliamentary election.
