21st founding anniversary of KUET celebrated

KHULNA, Sept 1: Students, teachers and staff of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) on Sunday celebrated its 21st founding anniversary in a befitting manner. 

This year, the KUET authorities organized the founding anniversary in a limited scale in order to donate money to the flood victims as well as injured persons who received bullet injuries during anti-discrimination student movement.

The day's programme began through remembering the martyrdom, seeking salvation of the departed souls of those students who sacrificed their lives during the anti-discrimination.

Later on, by releasing pigeons in front of the administrative building, the programme was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor (VC) of KUET Professor Dr Muhammad Masud by hoisting the national flag and the university flag. The national anthem was played. 

To mark the Day, "KUET Day Celebration Committee" organized a 'love rally' (Preety Samabesh) with  VC Dr Muhammad Masud as the chief guest. President of the programme organizing committee and Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty Prof Dr Muhammad Harunur Rashid was in the chair.

Among others, Prof Dr Md Kutub Uddin, Prof Dr Khondokar Aftab Hossain, Member Secretary of the programme organizing committee and Director of Student Welfare Prof Dr Muhammad Sultan Mahmud spoke.

Registrar Md Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan delivered the welcome speech.

VC said, the KUET is playing a pioneer role in developing the country's Information Communication and Technology (ICT).

KUET not only produces meritorious graduates but also makes the country's famous citizens who are now playing an important role in sustainable engineering, technology and ICT development both at home and abroad, he added.

Besides, a special Munajat was offered and a Doa Mahfil was held on the campus mosque after Johr prayer.

KUET was established in Rail gate area under Khanjahan Ali Police Station in the city on this day in 2003.
