Complaints of misdeed brought against college principal in Tangail

Imam Hossain Md Faruque has been serving as the Principal of Natun Kohela College in Mirzapur, Tangail, allegedly using false information for seven years.

Md Faruque is alleged to have been appointed on fake documents at the college and collected government salaries and allowances from December 2017 to July 2024.

However, Principal Md Faruque declined the allegations against him.

Recently, the founder and teachers of the college have filed complaints with the college President, local Upazila Nirbahi Officer, and the Education Ministry against Md Faruque.

They demanded his removal and appointment of a new Principal.

According to the complaints, Principal Faruque previously served as the head of the Business Management department of the college. After joining in 2003, he was included in the MPO list in 2004 and continued in that department until March 8, 2010.

The complaints alleged that he was involved in various irregularities, corruption, falsification of income and expenditures, and disputes with college staff. He resigned on March 8, 2010, without clearing the accounts and joined Uttara Credence College in Dhaka as the Principal on April 1, 2010.

"After just eight months, Uttara Credence College dismissed him on charge of irregularities and corruption," said the complaints.

Complaints of the college founder and teachers added that in 2016, Fazlur Rahman Khan Faruk, the president of Tangail District Awami League and Chairman of the District Council, became the President of the college. Using political elements, Md Faruque rejoined the college as Principal in December 2017 for the general college branch while keeping his resignation hidden. He was included in the MPO list again, which, according to the government MPO policies, was inappropriate.

Talking to the Daily Observer, Principal Md Faruque said, "I did not resign in 2017. It was not possible to hide the matter from the Education Ministry."

Md Faruque said he was on leave at that time.

Asked if he could join another college as Principal while on 'leave', Md Faruque said it does not contradict with the government policies as Uttara Credence College is a private institution.
