Sibling drown in Kurigram pond

Two siblings drowned in a pond at Phulbari upazila in Kurigram district on Monday.

This accident took place at Sujaner Kuti village under Bhangamor union of the upazila.
The victims were Ria Moni, 10, and her brother Sifat Hossain, 05, children of Rabiul Islam of that village.

It was known that around 5:30 pm on Monday, Sifat Hossain and her sister Ria Moni went to play on the bank of the pond next to their house. At one point, Sifat fell into the pond and drowned in deep water. Seeing the younger brother drowning in the water, Ria Moni jumped into the pond to save her brother. When the two hugged each other, both of them drowned in the water of the pond.

Later, their family members recovered the bodies from the pond.

Phulbari Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Nawabur Rahman confirmed the news.
