Architects demand suspension of DAP, reforms

Architects on Monday requested the interim government to suspend the Detailed Area Plan (DAP) 2022-35, branding it 'discriminatory' and demanded implementation of necessary reforms. 

They came up with the demands at a press conference organised by the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) at National Press Club in the morning.

They requested the government to halt the DAP due to its 'legal and procedural inconsistencies.'

DAP was introduced through an illegal process, the architects noted, critising the planning process for not aligning with existing urban planning laws and noted that the.

IAB General Secretary Architect Nabi Newaz Khan moderated the press conference and Vice President Architect Md Ali Naki presented the key-note paper.

IAB President Architect Prof Dr Khondaker Sabbir Ahmed addressed the press conference, among others.
