Youth hacked dead in city by muggers

An unidentified youth was hacked to death by muggers in Dhaka's Hazaribagh area early Tuesday.

The incident happened around 3:00 AM on Hazaribagh Baroykhali Dental road in the city. 

The deceasd was identified as CNG driver, approximately 20 years old, but further details could not be known immediately. 

Police confirmed the news on Tuesday morning.

Pedestrain Md Sumon, who brought the CNG driver to the hospital, said that four muggers were trying to snatch his CNG in the area. At one point, one of the muggers hacked his chest with a knife, leaving him critically injured. 

He was rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where he succumbed to his injuries around around 4:00 AM.

Inspector Md Bachchu Miah, in-charge of the police camp at DMCH, said the youth was declared dead by the on-duty doctors when he was brought to the hospital. 

The identity of the deceased could be known immediately, he added.
