After two hours' of sit-in programme, doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) have returned to their work. They have resumed outpatient services.
Meanwhile, Abdul Ahad, resident surgeon of Department of Neurosurgery at DMCH, informed that doctors at all public and private hospitals across the country will return to work from Wednesday (September 4).
He said, "The hospital administrations ensured the security of the doctors as per our demand. Culprits have been arrested. For this we postponed our strike."
He came up with development on Tuesday.
Earlier this morning, the doctors have observed their scheduled sit-in programme from 8AM to 10AM.
BGB, police and Army personnel were found on high alert near emergency department and outdoors.
On Monday, Abdul Ahad, resident surgeon of Department of Neurosurgery at DMCH, announced that the doctors will observe sit-ins at their respective workplaces from 8AM to 10PM everyday from Tuesday until their demands are met.
The doctors of all public and private hospitals across the country went on a complete shutdown on Sunday, protesting attack on physicians and vandalism carried out by relatives of a patient at the emergency department of DMCH.
On August 30, Ahsanul Islam Dipto, a civil engineering student at the BUBT, who was severely injured in a motorcycle accident, succumbed to his injuries at DMCH on Saturday (August 31) morning. His relatives and classmates alleged that he died due to the negligence of the doctors.
