A murder case has been filed against Awami League leaders and activists at Pekua upazila in Cox's Bazar district, in connection with the killing of local
Sramik Dal leader Shahidul Islam during a clash on August 26 between two groups centering supremacy in Pekua's CNG line.
Shaker Alam, the deceased's younger brother, filed the case against several Awami League leaders and activists naming 20 individuals with Pekua Police Station on Saturday ( August 31).
The main accused are Abul Kashem, general secretary of Pekua Upazila Awami League; Didarul Islam Sikdar, president of 4 no Ward Awami League; Jubo League leader Md Azamgir alias Azom.
Earlier, on 26 August, Sramik Dal leader Shahidul Islam was hacked to death by rivals in front of CNG ticket counter on the West side of Pekua Bazar.
Md Ilias, officer-in-charge of Pekua Police Station, said a case has been filed in connection with the murder of Sramik Dal leader Shahidul Islam.
Efforts are under process to arrest the accused, he added.
