Ex-BCL leader held at Naogaon border while fleeing to India

Law enforcers detained former vice president of Naogaon District Chhatra League Mehedi Hasan, 35, while he was fleeing to India through Naogaon border.

He was arrested by DB Police from Aihai border area under ​​Sapahar Upazila early Tuesday (September 3).
Earlier, on August 3, a case was registered against Chhatra League leader Mehedi Hasan and 92 activists for their involvement in the attack and vandalism of the district BNP party office at KD intersection in Naogaon town. 250 unidentified people have been accused in the case.

Naogaon District DB Inspector (Investigation) Hashmat Ali said that vigilance was increased in the border areas after being informed that Chhatra League leader Mehdi was trying to escape to India. He was arrested around 4 am Tuesday with the help of the local police, the Inspector added.

He further said that Mehedi was known as the 'godfather' of terrorist gangs in the town. There are several cases against him.
