In Narail, a total of 3,770 ha of Aush pPaddy land have been harvested.

Farmers in the district cultivated 9,665 ha  of land against the DAE fixed target of 10,100 ha, with a production target of 25,799 MT clean rice.

While talking with this correspondent of The Daily Observer farmers and agriculturists said, in the Khulna agri-zone farmers usually plant Aush saplings in the rainy season; but,  due to climate change, there was not much rain in this rainy season; so, the farmers had to irrigate their lands with deep tube-well water; this irrigating raised the farming costs.

Farmer Abdul Hamid in Batiaghata Upazila in Khulna said, they faced no problem in cultivating Aush in the last last year as there was enough rain during the rainy season. But this time, sometimes draught and inadequate rain in the rainy season hampered the Aush cultivation, he added.

DAE's Deputy Director Divash Chandra Saha said, due to irregular and insufficient rain this time, the farmers could not cultivate Aush on more lands. So, they could not achieve the cultivation target, he added.

Yet, the Aush production is satisfactory, the DAE official added.
