The total death toll from the flood has risen to 71 so far including seven women and 19 children as deaths of four more people were reported on Tuesday.
Additional Secretary of Disaster Management and Relief Ministry KM Ali Reza disclosed this at a press conference on the flood situation at the ministry's conference room Tuesday afternoon.
Disaster Management and Relief Adviser Faruk E Azam, Bir Protik and Secretary Md Kamrul Hasan were also present in the press conference.
Among the deaths, 19 were reported from Cumilla, 28 from Feni, six from Chattogram, 11 from Noakhali, one each from Khagrachhari, Brahmanbaria, Moulvibazar and Lakshmipur and three from Cox's Bazar districts. Besides, one person remained missing in Moulvibazar district, Ali Reza said.
He said the flood-affected districts are Feni, Cumilla, Chattogram, Khagrachhari, Noakhali, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Sylhet, Lakshmipur and Cox's Bazar.
The Additional Secretary said the flood situation is improving in Cumilla, Feni, Noakhali and Lakshmipur districts while Moulvibazar district witnessed overall improvement.
Ali Reza said the flood situation in Chattogram, Khagrachhari, Habiganj, Sylhet, Brahmanbaria and Cox's Bazar districts remained normal.
He said people are returning home from shelter centers as the country's overall flood situation has improved significantly while communication systems have become normal in flood-affected districts.
