A man, who sustained injuries during the clash between students and the Ansar members near the Secretariat in Dhaka, died at a hospital on Wednesday morning.
The deceased Shahin Howlader, 45, a resident of Mongla Upazila in Bagerhat district. Shahin, a driver for a rent-a-car service, lived with his family in the Dakshin Goran area of Dhaka.
He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday.
Inspector Md Faruk, in charge of the DMCH police outpost, said that his body had been sent to the morgue for an autopsy.
On August 25 night, a clash broke out between the students and the Ansar members, who had laid seige to the secretariat demanding nationalisation of their jobs and they were remained in position there, despite their demands were met. During the confrontation at least 40 people injured.
Hasan Ahmed, son of Shahin Howlader, said on that night Hasan was at the Dhaka University campus collecting relief for flood victims. As his father learned that Hasan was near the Secretariat, Shahin went there to pick him up and came under the violence, he added.
Critically injured Shahin was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
