According to the details of the case, on July 18, under the guidance of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the then Home Minister Asaduzzaman Kamal attacked the students of the anti-discrimination movement with the help of local Awami League parliamentarians.
The students plunged into the Shakuni lake. As a result, Dipta Dey, a student of Madaripur Government College, was chased by the attackers and fell into the lake.
A case was filed in the Judicial Magistrate's Court mentioning 27 people and other 200 to 300 unnamed people.
Later, the court ordered the case to be accepted as an official statement.
The names of 27 people including former MP of Madaripur Shajahan Khan, Afam Bahauddin Nashim, Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury, Abdus Sobahan Golap, former chairman of Sadar Upazila Obaidur Rahman Khan, Asibur Rahman Khan are mentioned in the case.
Earlier, another case was filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the murder case of martyr Roman Bepari.
Informant in the case, Abdullah Al Mamun, said, "We have become independence for the second time in Bangladesh in exchange for the blood of martyrs who we have sacrificed their lives. For this reason, I have filed the case."
