Three people including a woman and her son were murdered at their house in Homna Upazila of Cumilla early Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Mahmuda Akter, 35, wife of Shah Poran, a resident of Ghagutia Village in the upazila; their nine-year-old son Shahad; and Tisha, 14, daughter of Shah Poran's maternal cousin.

Police recovered the bodies of the trio from the house in Ghagutia Village of the upazila at around 10:45 am on Thursday.

According to police and local sources, Shah Poran works in Dhaka and lives there.

However, his wife Mahmuda Akter, son Shahad and niece Tisha were sleeping on Wednesday night. At early hours of Thursday, a group of miscreants entered the house secretly and killed them after wrapping a scarf on their necks, and fled the scene.
