Prof Faiz made new UGC chairman

The interim government has appointed Prof SMA Faiz, a former vice chancellor of Dhaka University and ex-PSC chairman, as the University Grant Commission chairman.

Prof Faiz will be the UGC chairman for four years and will receive salary, allowances and benefits as per the rules, the Ministry of Education said in a notice on Thursday.

His appointment will be applicable from the day of joining.

Prof Faiz, a former teacher at the Department of Soil, Water & Environment of Dhaka University, has also served as the chairman of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission from 1993 to 1998.

He was the vice-chancellor of Dhaka University from September 2002 to January 2009.    —bdnews24.com
