The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has urged all to provide information in recovering illegal firearms as a joint-drive in this connection began form Wednesday's early hours.
From September 4, 2024, a joint operation has started to recover all types of illegal weapons, including firearms and ammunitions, not deposited in the police station under the suspended license and all types of illegal weapons, including the police and other forces, said a DMP release on Thursday evening.
It said, "If you have any information about illegal weapons, please inform the police as the DMP is determined to rid the metropolis of illegal firearms."
The DMP added: "If you have any information about illegal weapons, you can call the national emergency service 999 or inform the nearest police station . . . Your identity must be kept confidential."
Besides, the release said information can be provided through the inbox of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Facebook page(https://www.facebook.com/dmpdhaka) or on the WhatsApp number ( 01320-037870, 01320-037871).
