The Rapid Action Battalion has recovered three shotguns, 98 rounds of ammunition and a belt owned by police discarded at Mohammadpur's Beribadh.

RAB-2 recovered the weapons around 8:30pm on Thursday and handed them over to Mohammadpur Police Station, the elite force said in a press statement.
The arms and ammunition recovered were part of the materials looted from different police stations in the capital on August 5, the statement said.

The weapons were recovered amid the ongoing drive against unauthorised arms based on a tip-off, RAB said in the statement.

The interim government had set a September 3 deadline to surrender the arms licensed during the rule of Sheikh Hasina.

The law enforcers began a drive on Wednesday to recover those weapons yet to be turned over as well as those looted from police and other organisations.

According to information from Police Headquarters on September 3, those firearms yet to be recovered include 849 pistols, 622 shotguns, 338 Chinese rifles. 66 sub-machine guns (SMG), 11 light machine guns (LMG), and a few tear shell launchers and signal pistols.

The Ministry of Home Affairs and Dhaka Metropolitan Police officers said that the raid was based on the updated data of weapons recovery and intelligence reports. The army, police, RAB, BGB, Coast Guard and Ansar members are taking part in the recovery drive.
