A team of Bangladesh Army recovered a pistol, that looted by a mob on August 4 during the Anti-Discrimination Movement, from a mosque at Purbadhala upazila in Netrokona district on Friday evening.
The pistol was found at Zalsuka Kumudganj Jumma Mosque in the upazila.
On Friday evening, Maulana Delwar Hossain, the Imam of the mosque, spotted a pistol and a magazine cover inside an abandoned bag. He then informed the mosque committee, which subsequently notified the army. Following this, an army team recovered the pistol.
Captain Sazed, the commander of the Netrokona Army camp, said, "The pistol was stolen from a police van along with nine others on August 4. We were informed by the public about the weapon, and we recovered it from the mosque. Our operation to recover illegal arms is ongoing. If local residents have any information, please inform us."
