The interim government chief adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus is likely to hold a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Norendra Modi in New York during the UN General Assembly this month.
"Bangladesh made a formal request earlier this week in this regard," reports Hindustan Times on Saturday.
The Indian side is yet to decide on Bangladesh's request, and Modi's agenda for bilateral meetings in New York is still being firmed up, the newspaper said.
Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus will attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) with a lean 7-member team to the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York from 22 to 29 September.
According to a notice issued by the Chief Advisor's Office, the team consists of Deena Afroz Yunus, daughter of Prof Yunus, Debapriya Bhattacharya, a member of the white paper committee on economy and Shahidul Alam, managing director of Drik.
Others in the team include Lamiya Morshed, principal coordinator for SDGs Affairs, Mahfuj Alam, special assistant to the chief adviser, Shabbir Ahmad, assistant private secretary to the chief adviser and Aysha Siddique Tithi, a student of BRAC University.
The Chief adviser's office has said that Dr Muhammad Yunus will hold a series of meetings at the sideline of the UNGA meeting.
