A Dhaka court has placed Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSoD) president and former minister Hasanul Haq Inu on a four-day remand in a case related to the death of Class XI student Khalid Hasan Saifullah in Lalbagh on July 18.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub passed the order after the investigating officer, Sub-Inspector Akkas Mia of Lalbagh police station, requested a seven-day remand.
During the hearing, pro-BNP lawyers raised slogans demanding Inu's execution.

In connection with the July 20 quota reform movement, Inu was also produced in another Dhaka court on Sunday in a case filed at Mohammadpur police station regarding truck driver Md Sujan's death.

The investigating officer said in the remand application that Inu had knowledge of the murder and needed to be questioned to obtain crucial information about other accused individuals who remain at large.

Defence lawyer Muhibur Rahman Mihir argued that Inu had no involvement in the murder and sought his bail along with the cancellation of the remand.

After hearing both sides, the magistrate granted the remand for further interrogation.

Inu has already been remanded for 16 days across three murder cases filed in different police stations. He was arrested on August 26 from a relative's house in Uttara.

Inu has also been accused in several other cases following the August 5 coup, and he faces charges of crimes against humanity along with Sheikh Hasina at the International Criminal Tribunal.
