BAGERHAT, Sept 9: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a man from the Khan Jahan Ali bridge area in Khulna on Friday night in connection with the murder of his wife over dowry in the district.
The arrested man is Md Kashem Sheikh, 25, a resident of Dhonpata Village under Fakirhat Upazila.
RAB-6 confirmed this news through a press release on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Fatimatuz Zohra, 19, daughter of Abdul Kuddus and wife of Kashem Sheikh.
Earlier, on March 16 last, Kashem Sheikh murdered his wife Fatimatuz Zohra over dowry and asked Zohra's father to take her body.
Following this incident, a case was filed with Fakirhat Police Station (PS) against the culprit. Since then, Kashem had been absconding.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from RAB-6 conducted a drive in the Khan Jahan Ali bridge area in Khulna on Friday night, and arrested Kashem.
Later on, the arrested was handed over to police.
Abul Kashem was produced before the court, and his remand was requested, said Md Ashraful Alam, officer-in-charge of Fakirhat Model PS.
