Three men to die in Sirajganj double murder case

SIRAJGANJ, Sept 9: A court in the district on Monday sentenced three people to death for killing two brothers in Chauhali Upazila in 2018.

District and Sessions Judge M Ali Ahmed handed down the verdict at noon in presence of the convicts.

The condemned convicts are: Shahidul Islam Saccha, 50, and Nasir Uddin, 40, sons of late Abdur Rashid Master; and Israfil Hossain, 65, son of late Samesh Ali. All of the three are residents of Kodalia Uttarpara Village under Chauhali Upazila. 

The court also fined them Tk 1 lakh each. 

According to the prosecution, the convicts attacked on Kawsar Ali in Purba Kodalia Village on December 7, 2018 over a land dispute.

 Being attacked Kawsar called his young brother Milton to save himself. When Milton reached the scene, the convicts hacked both the brothers with indigenous weapons, leaving the duo critically injured.

Locals then rescued the injured and took them to Tangail General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor referred the two to Dhaka for better treatment.

Later on, Kawsar succumbed to his injuries on the way to Dhaka while Milton died at a hospital in the capital while undergoing treatment.
Mother of the deceased brothers Hayatun Nessa lodged a murder case with Chauhali Police Station being the plaintiff.

After investigation, police submitted the charge-sheet to the court.

Following this, the court pronounced the verdict on Monday after examining the case records and taking depositions of the witnesses.
