Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on Monday said the main focus of the interim government is the law and order situation, stressing that the security situation has improved in the country.

Prof Yunus also said the interim government has rolled out important reforms in the first month after he took over as the chief adviser.

He made the remarks when the Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See (Ambassador of Vatican) to Bangladesh, Kevin S. Randell paid a courtesy call on him at the state guesthouse Jamuna in Dhaka.

Yunus and the Apostollic Nuncio of the Holy See discussed issues related to Bangladesh's religious minorities, Inter-faith dialogue, Rogingya humanitarian responses and the UN General Assembly where the chief adviser is expected to speak later this month.

Prof Yunus sought support from the Holy See for reforms and the Rohingya people sheltered in Bangladesh, said the press wing of the chief adviser.

The Vatican envoy said they had proposed an inter-faith dialogue between the Islamic scholars of Bangladesh and a delegation from the Holy See's Dicastery on Interreligious Dialogue.

He also underscored the need for scaling up assistance for more than one million Rohingya people who live in the camps in Bangladesh's southeast.

Senior Secretary (SDGs affairs) Lamiya Morshed and Director General of the Foreign Ministry Kazi Russel Pervez were present during the meeting.
