KAPTAI, RANGAMATI, Sept 10: Kaptai Hydropower Plant in Kaptai Upazila of the district is facing frequent electricity disruption due to thundering and rain, causing immense public sufferings.

At present, the power outage is taking place for 7-9 times in 24 hours.   This electricity outage has been continuing for the last two months.

Public suffering is mounting up amid warming while government, private factories, bank, insurance and other offices are facing untold problems.

Students are also facing problems in carrying out their study.

The electricity produced in the power plant is added to the national grid.

Kaptai Residential Engineer AKM Samsu Arefin said, it is not load-shedding; the electricity disruption has been taking place due to torn electricity wires because of natural disaster.

"I have joined for only one and a half months. And it is regretting that I have yet to do office work properly," he added.

People in Kaptai, Bilaichhari, Rajasthali, and Jurachhari upazilas are suffering for the electricity problem, he added.

He further said, the big problem is that we are facing manpower crisis to repair torn wire and disrupted lines.

Besides, budget shortage is also a problem for repairing works, he said again.

The official informed, a new transformer is being installed rapidly, and after its installation, this problem will be no longer, he added.
