The Supreme Court administration has directed the lower court judges not to share any unnecessary status or comments on the social media that could violate service rules.

'Some judicial officers were not following the Supreme Court directives while using social media, which was 'unexpected' and 'untoward,' according to a notice issued on September 10 by the Supreme Court administration signed by its Registrar General Aziz Bhuiyan.

Recently, it has been observed that some judicial officers are not following the instructions given on September 22, 2019 and April 16, 2023 regarding the use of social media, the notice said.

It also said that some judicial officers were using social media during office hours and posting negative comments about their employers and regulators, which was against office discipline and tantamount to misconduct.

"Under the circumstances, the Chief Justice has strictly ordered the officers in the judiciary to follow the directives given by this court and not to share any status, comment or post on social media which is unnecessary and contrary to office discipline."
