Two persons were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and an easy bike in Barishal's Agailjhar on Thursday.
The accident took place in the morning in Rathbari area of Pakurita village under the upazila on the Barisal-Gopalganj regional highway.
The dead were Nur Hossain Kazi, hailed from Khajuria village under Baghdha union of the upazila, and Helal Sharif of Gaurnadi upazila in the district.
According to police and locals, an easy bike was going to Khajuria of the upazila in the morning. At that time, a truck collided with the easy bike in that area. The three wheeler and the truck fell into a nearby canal after losing control.
Nur Hossain died on the spot. Later, easy bike driver Helal Sharif died while taking him to Barishal hospital.
Agailjhara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alam Chand said police were sent to the spot. Later, police and fire service personnel conducted rescue operation. The bodies were recovered and sent to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital morgue.
