Madrasa teacher arrested over raping student in C'nawabganj

A madrasa teacher was arrested by locals and later handed over to the police for allegedly attempting to abuse a boy student at Gomastapur upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Wednesday.

The incident happened at Khan Azharul Ulum Hafizia Madrasa under Rohanpur municipality area in the upazila on Wednesday afternoon.

The arrested teacher is Saiful Islam, 32, a resident of Suranpur village under Bholahat upazila in the district.

The victim's mother said that her son told her about the matter on Wednesday noon. Then, she informed the local people.

Following this incident, locals detained the culprit and handed over to the police.

Zubair Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Gomastapur Police Station, said that a case has been filed with the police station by the victim's mother.

The teacher has been sent to jail on Thursday morning, the OC added.
