Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a two-day programme in the capital from Saturday to honour the martyrs who lost their lives during the political repression, as well as to commemorate International Democracy Day.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the rallies at a briefing following a joint meeting with the party members held at its central office in Nayapaltan on Thursday (12 September).

The party will hold a rally at the Central Shaheed Minar from 3pm to 5pm on Saturday (September 14) where relatives of those who have been martyred, or tortured over the past 14 to 15 years will attend. The event will feature various cultural activities, including music, poetry recitals, and performances.

Besides, in observance of the International Democracy Day, another rally will be held in front of the party office in Nayapaltan in Dhaka on Sunday (September 15), he added.
