Bogra oil tank explosion leaves four workers dead

Four workers were killed in an explosion when fires from welder fell on an oil tank during repairing an oil pipeline at Mazumder Rice Bran Oil Mills at Sherpur in Bogra district on Thursday.

The accident happened at about 1:15pm, said Rezaul Karim Reza, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sherpur Police Station.

The victims of the accident were Md Imran, 32, Mohammad Syeed, 38, Md Rubel, 31, and Md Monir, 28. They were hailed from Syedpur Officers Colony in Nilphamari district.

Police said the accident occurred at about 2:15pm atMazumder Rice Bran Oil Mills' factory as the oil tanker of the factory exploded during welding work of a leaked pipeline, leaving four workers injured.

The injured were rushed to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital where doctors pronounced them dead.
