Six found dead in Sirajganj, Kurigram, Bagerhat

The bodies of five minor children and a schoolboy have been recovered in separate incidents from three districts - Sirajganj, Kurigram and Bagerhat, in three days. 

SIRAJGANJ: Police on Thursday recovered the bodies of two children, who went missing in the Jamuna River in Chauhali Upazila of the district on Wednesday.

On Thursday morning, two dead bodies were recovered from the embankment area of the Khaskaulia Jamuna River in the upazila. Earlier, they went missing while bathing in the river on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Hazrat Ali, 6, son of Alamgir Hossain of Kurki Village under Khaskaulia Union in the upazila, and his cousin sister Khadija Khatun, 5, daughter of Jahangir Hossain of the same area.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chauhali River Police Outpost Shamsul Alam confirmed the incident, saying that the two children went missing while they were taking bath in the river along with their grandfather Abdur Rahim Mollah on Wednesday afternoon. Their family members searched but could not find them. 

Later on, their floating bodies were recovered from Reski Board area of Jotpara Tirraksha Dam on the river on Thursday morning.
However, necessary steps would be taken in this regard, the OC added.

NAGESHWARI, KURIGRAM: The bodies of three children, who went missing in the Brahmaputra River in Nageshwari Upazila of the district on Wednesday noon, have been recovered from three unions on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Jewel, 7, son of Alam Mia, a resident of Baghmara Village under Narayanpur Union; Nazmul Hasan, 7, son of Nazrul Islam, a resident of Oshtashir Char Village; and Atiq Hasan, 7, son of Ahad Ali.

Kochakata Police Station (PS) OC Bishwadev Roy confirmed the identities of the deceased.

Meanwhile, one Akhi Khatun, 9, daughter of Ahad Ali, is still missing in the river.

The OC said that local people recovered the body of Atiq from Kochakata PS area on Thursday morning. Later on, Nazmul's body was recovered from Begumganj Union area and Jewel's from Raniganj Union area.

Earlier, the four children went missing in the Brahmaputra River on Wednesday noon during strong wind while they were bathing in it.
BAGERHAT: Police recovered the body of a schoolboy from his residence in Fakirhat Upazila of the district on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Sheikh Mehedi Hasan, 12, son of Sheikh Saidul Islam, a resident of Hogoldanga Village under Piljanga Union in the upazila. He was a seventh grade student at Piljanga High School.

According to the deceased's family members, Mehedi committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan out of huff with them as his uncle scolded him for not going to school.

They discovered him hanging from the ceiling fan of his room in the house at around 8 am on Tuesday and informed police, said the family members.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Fakirhat Model PS OC Md Ashraful Alam confirmed the incident, adding that the actual reason behind his death would be known after getting the autopsy report.
