The Bangladesh Hindu Parishad on Friday staged a demonstration in the capital's Shahbagh demanding justice for the recent attacks on members of the community and temples across the country after the fall of Sheikh Hasina regime.

Protesters started gathering at the Shahbagh intersection at around 4:00pm and urged the interim government to take effective measures to ensure safety of minorities.

They demanded immediate arrest and punishment of those responsible for the attacks.

Their eight-point demands included speedy trial of cases of attacks on minorities, compensation and rehabilitation of victims of communal violence, legislation for the protection of minorities, formation of a minority affairs ministry, promotion of Hindu Religious Welfare Trust to Hindu Foundation and a five-day holiday on Durga Puja.
