The well-marked low over southeastern part of Bangladesh and adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal intensified into a depression, then land deep depression over Jashore and adjoining area at 9:00am on Saturday.
It has moved northwestwards further. Under its influence, deep convection is taking place over north bay and adjoining coastal areas. Aqually weather may affect the maritime ports, north bay and adjoining coastal areas of the country, said the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) in a special weather bulletin at 9:30am on Saturday (September 14).
Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal No 3.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to take shelter and remain in shelter till further notice.
Meanwhile, the Met Office said in a regular weather bulletin that light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country.
Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.
