The arrestee was identified as Farukul Islam of Satkania upazila of Chattogram district.

Jabed Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Cox's Bazar District Police, said detectives arrested Farukul on Friday night.

However, the video footage in which the woman was seen physically manhandled went viral on the social networking site Facebook drew huge flak.

In the video footage, Farukul along with others was seen forcing the woman to hold her ears and do squats and beat her up with sticks before the public at Sugandha Beach point.
