Two young men were crushed under train in separate incidents in two districts - Bogura and Gopalganj, in two days.
BOGURA: A young man was crushed under a train in the district town on Friday night.
The accident took place in Old Bogura Wapda Gate area in the town at around 9 pm.
The deceased was identified as Ashraful Islam, son of Azim Uddin of Bagsara area under Paba Upazila in Rajshahi District. He worked a supervisor of a private company in Bogura.
Quoting locals, In-Charge of Bogura Railway Police Outpost Sub-Inspector (SI) Mostafa Kamal said that Ashraful went to Satmatha area in the district town to buy medicine for his wife at night riding on a motorcycle.
While returning, the Santahar-bound Padmarag train from Bogura hit his motorcycle in Old Bogura Wapda Gate area of the town at around 9 pm, which left him dead on the spot.
Being informed, Railway Police recovered the body from the scene.
However, necessary steps would be taken in this regard, the SI added.
GOPALGANJ: A physically-disabled youth was crushed under a train in Sadar Upazila of the district on Thursday night.
The accident took place near Borashi Railway Station of the upazila at around 11:30 pm.
The deceased was identified as Krishna Bagchi, 25, son of Sharat Bagchi, a resident of Gate Para area in the district town. He used to sell nuts at the railway station.
It was known that the Tungipara Express train from Rajshahi hit Krishna near Borashi Railway Station at night, leaving him dead on the spot.
Being informed, Rajbari Railway Police recovered the body from the scene on Friday and sent it to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Rajbari Railway Police Station SI Bidhan Chandra Mallick confirmed the incident.
