A total of 1,210 small and marginal farmers of Natore and Gaibandha districts will be provided seeds and fertiliser.
NATORE: A total of 1,000 small and marginal farmers in seven upazilas of the district will get seeds and fertiliser free of cost as agriculture incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of onion and pulse in the current season.
To increase the interest of farmers in onion and pulse cultivation, the amount of incentive support increased significantly in the district, said Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) of the district Md Abdul Wadud.
He said that each of 500 farmers recently was given five kg of pulse seeds, 10 kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertiliser and five kg of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertiliser free of cost for pulse cultivation on one bigha of land.
The DAE has already allocated Tk 16.40 lakh in this regard.
The seeds and fertiliser will be distributed very soon under the Upazila Agriculture Offices concerned, the DAE official added.
GAIBANDHA: As many as 210 small and marginal farmers of Sudarganj Upazila of the district got seeds and fertiliser free of cost for cultivating black gram (Mashkalai) during the current Kharip-2 season.
Upazila Agriculture Office distributed the seeds and fertiliser among the farmers yesterday at the Upazila Farmers' Training Centre.
Sundarganj DAE office sources said each farmer received 5 kg of seed and 15 kg of chemical fertiliser.
Similar programmes are being conducted in other upazilas of the district.
