Five people including a minor girl were electrocuted in separate incidents in three districts - Jhenidah, Noakhali and Kurigram, in two days.
JHENIDAH: Three members of a family were electrocuted in Sadar Upazila of the district on Monday morning.
The incident took place in Surapara Village of the upazila at around 10:30 am.
The deceased were identified as Moksed Molla, 60, his niece Reshma Khatun, 40, and Reshma's mother Hasina Khatun, 55.
According to Fire Service and Civil Defence sources, a papaya tree fell down on an electric wire behind the house of Moksed Molla during the storm on Sunday night. When Moksed tried to remove the tree from the wire on Monday morning, he was electrocuted and died on the spot.
Reshma Khatun and Hasina were also electrocuted as they tried to save Moksed.
On information, the Fire Service members rushed to the scene, and with the help of local people, took Hasina and Reshman to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared them dead.
NOAKHALI: A technician was electrocuted while fixing a Wi-Fi connection in Begumganj Upazila of the district on Sunday.
The incident took place in Ward No. 2 area under Kutubpur Union of the upazila in the evening.
The deceased was identified as Chandra Das Biplob, 25, son of Nepal Chandra Das, a resident of Yarpur Village under Senbag Upazila in the district.
Local sources said that Biplob came in contact with a live electric wire while he was fixing an internet connection in Ward No. 2 area under Kutubpur Union of Begumganj in the evening, which left him dead on the spot.
Being informed, police recovered the body.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Begumganj Police Station (PS) Md Anwarul Islam confirmed the incident, adding that legal steps will be taken after taking with the deceased's family.
RAJARHAT, KURIGRAM: A minor girl was electrocuted in Rajarhat Upazila of the district on Sunday.
The incident took place in Sukhdeb Village under Bidyananda Union of the upazila at around 11:30 am.
The deceased was identified as Marufa, 6, daughter on Mojibar Rahman, a resident of the village. She was a student of play group at Sukhdeb Government Primary School.
Local and the deceased's family sources said that Marufa came in contact with live electricity while she was trying to switch on an electric fan in the house, which left her critically injured.
The family members then rescued the child and took to Rajarhat Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.
Rajarhat PS OC Mostafizar Rahman, PPM, confirmed the incident.
