Boy dies from snakebite at Mirsharai

MIRSHARAI, CHATTOGRAM, Sept 18: A schoolboy died from snakebite in Mirsharai Upazila of the district on Tuesday evening.

The deceased was identified as Simanto Nath, son of Kanti Nath, a resident of Dewanpur Village under Jorarganj Union in the upazila. He was a seventh grader at Jorarganj Adarsha High School.

It was known that a venomous snake bit his leg in the afternoon in front of his house. Family members took him to a local snake charmer. Later on, he was taken to Mirsharai Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor referred him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) as there was no anti-venom. 

After taking him to the CMCH, the doctors declared him dead in the evening.
