The newly-appointed Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Zulfiqar Ali Haider today said special security measures would be taken for smooth celebration of Durga Puja.
"Special security measures will be taken before and after Durga Puja in all Puja Mandaps, so that any vested quarter cannot commit any subversive activities to destroy communal harmony in the country," he made the remarks while exchanging views with journalists at the KMP headquarters here.
The new KMP commissioner, with deep sorrow and respect, remembered all the martyrs, including Abu Sayed and Mugdho, who sacrificed their lives during the anti-discrimination movement.
Later, the KMP chief urged the journalists to express their opinions about Khulna city's existing problems and sought suggestions from them.
Additional police commissioner Taslima Khatun, deputy commissioner (south) Sheikh Moniruzzaman, DC (DB) Md Anwar Hossain, and DC (city SB) MM Shakiluzzaman, among others, were present.
