NATORE, Sept 19: Lalpur Upazila agriculture office of the district has taken a comprehensive step to increase production of different species of lemon in the upazila.
In this connection, the office organized a field-day programme and a public-show event on BARI Malta-1 in Baraigram Village on Saturday.
Besides, a discussion meeting was held on that topic with Md Abdul Wadud, deputy director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE)-Natore, in the chair.
Md Nasir Uddin, director of the DAE (Horticulture wing)-Natore was present as the chief guest.
Dr Farooq Hossain, project director, and Pritom Kumer Hore, Lalpur Upazila agriculture officer, were present as special guests.
Speakers discussed the cultivating method of BARI-Malta-1.
They said, it has a lot of vitamin; it can be cultivated easily; production cost is low; and farmers may be benefitted through cultivating it.
They called upon farmers to cultivate it to become a contributor to the country's economic development.
Among others, male and female farmers and all sub-assistant agriculture officers of the DAE were present.
