DU bans political activities on campus until further notice

The Dhaka University authorities have decided to ban all kinds of political activities by the students, teachers, officials, and employees on the campus until further notice.

This decision was made at an emergency syndicate meeting held on Thursday night with Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan in the chair.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof Mamun Ahmed, Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Sayema Haque Bidisha, and Treasurer Prof M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury among other Syndicate members were present at the meeting.

Meanwhile, a syndicate member said that the meeting was held from 7PM to 8:45PM at the Vice-Chancellor's Lounge. The decision on banning the politics was made after nearly two hours of discussion, he added.
Another syndicate member said the main agenda of the meeting was student politics but the decision extended the ban to all political activities involving students, teachers, officials, and employees.
