Autorickshaw driver stabbed dead by muggers at Sutrapur

An elderly battery-run rickshaw driver was stabbed to death by muggers at Sutrapur in the capital early Saturday.

The deceased was Jinda Mandal, 60.

Yusuf Mandal, son of the deceased, said a group of muggers waylaid his father while he was crossing Sutrapur area at night. They tried to snatch the rickshaw. When his father resisted, they stabbed him and fled the scene.

"Getting information, we went to the spot and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where he passed away around 4:15AM," Yusuf added.
