Altaf George put on two-day fresh remand

Former lawmaker from Kushtia-4 constituency Selim Altaf George has been placed on two-day fresh remand in a case filed over killing an auto-rickshaw puller at Mohammapur in Dhaka city during the mass movement.

Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Arafatul Rakib passed the order as investigation officer (IO) of the case Altaf Hossain produced George before the court upon completion his three-day remand and prayed for five-day fresh remand.

Earlier, on September 17, detectives of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Altaf from Lalmatia in a murder case filed with Mohammadpur Police Station.

According to the case documents, on July 19, auto-rickshaw driver Md Roni suffered bullet injuries in front of the primary school on Nurjahan road at Muhammadpur during the anti-discrimination student movement.

He was taken to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College (ShSMC) where succumbed to injuries.
