Three people including father and son have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder of two brothers at Wari area in the capital on August 14 last.
The arrested are Akbar Hossain, 60, his son Md Asif Sultan Sifat, 27, and his friend Md Azharul Islam Khan Rian, 28.
It was stated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Police of the Wari Division of the DMP Md Saleh Uddin while addressing at a press conference at the DMP's Media and Public Relations Centre in the city on Saturday (September 21).
Md Saleh Uddin said two siblings were hacked to death in sequel to a conflict over the ownership of a flat.
He said two siblings -- Al Amin Bhuiyan, 42, and his younger brother Nurul Amin Bhuiyan, 35, were murdered in the morning of August 15 last. Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan, elder brother of the deceased siblings, later filed a murder case. Launching an investigation into the case, police later arrested the accused from Savar on Friday.
The Wari DC said Ruhul Amin Bhuiyan's second brother Al Amin Bhuiyan signed an agreement to buy a flat from "Classic Real Estate Company" at Hatkhola Road. In 2004, the real estate company owner Ripon had signed an agreement with the flat land owners Advocate Akbar group and his followers. As the company did not build any building on the land in the last 10 years, people belonging to land owner Advocate Akbar Group built the first floor spending their own money.
Since the plaintiff's second brother Md Al Amin Bhuiyan had an agreement of purchasing flat with Classic Real Estate Company, Md Al Amin Bhuiyan along with his younger brother Md Nurul Amin Bhuiyan went the under-construction flat at No. 10 Hatkhola Road at about 11:00am on August 14 last. At that time, Akbar, Rian and fugitive others led by arrested Sifat had indiscriminately attacked both the brothers and injured them with steel made batons, steel-made knives, Chinese axes and other sharp weapons on different parts of their bodies.
Later, seriously injured two brothers were taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty doctors pronounced them dead.
The Wari DC said the accused were identified collecting video footage of the surrounding areas of the place of occurence after a murder case was filed with the Wari Police Station.
Later on Friday morning, Wari police launched a raid at Savar Model Police Station area of Dhaka district and arrested Akbar Hossain and his son Asif Sultan Sifat and his friend Azharul Islam Khan Rian from their houses at Savar.
Then police recovered a Chinese axe, an electric shock stand, a knife and a steel-made baton from their possession. They were sent to jail through court.
DC Saleh Uddin said the real estate company also deceived slain Al Amin. Because of it, a case will be filed against the company owner.
