Bangladesh Mission is spending a very busy time to arrange the 50th anniversary function of its relations with the United Nations and will host a reception in NewYork to mark the anniversary of its UN membership.

Experts said as the international community closely watches the political and social changes in Bangladesh, the interim government's articulation of a clear vision at the upcoming UN General Assembly (UNGA) 2024 will be crucial in securing further support from global leaders, investors, and multilateral organisations for its nation-rebuilding efforts.

"It is an ideal moment for reflection and renewal, with the country having already embarked on its transformative journey toward "Bangladesh 2.0," Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain said.

Since becoming a member of the UN in 1974, its progress in human development has been remarkable, especially considering the challenging start as one of the poorest nations in the world in 1971. The UN's recognition of Bangladesh's graduation from the Least Developed Country (LDC) category in 2021 marked a significant milestone in its economic journey.

However, the mission is also busy arranging the sidelines meeting of the Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus and the Foreign Adviser Towhid Hossain with the global leaders.

On the sidelines of the UNGA, the chief adviser is scheduled to have bilateral meetings with prime ministers of Pakistan, Nepal and Netherlands and the US Secretary of State.

Discussions are going on regarding his bilateral meetings with the US President, President of Italy and Crown Prince of Kuwait, the Chinese Foreign Minister.

"We are set to organise a side event on the Rohingya crisis in the side line of the UNGA," an official said.

Foreign adviser will represent Bangladesh in the Summit of Future which will be held from September 22 to September 23. This Summit will adopt a declaration titled the 'Pact of Future,'

Touhid will also attend the meetings of the foreign ministers of the OIC, LDCs, and Commonwealth countries on the sidelines of the UNGA.

Touhid will also attend the meetings of the foreign ministers of the OIC, LDCs, and Commonwealth countries on the sidelines of the UNGA.

The interim government has started the reform process to build a new Bangladesh, the foreign adviser said, adding that the upcoming UNGA session will be a big opportunity to present the new Bangladesh, free of discrimination.
