Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology Adviser Md Nahid Islam on Saturday said that during the crucial period, conspiracies were on to desblise the country.

Nahid, however, said the people were aware of the conspiracies and would thwart the plots with all their strength.

Denying the allegation of internet shutdown in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) during violence in Khagrachhari and Rangamati on Friday, he said the government did not issue such instruction.

He came up with the remarks responding to a question from reporters during a visit to a flood-affected area in Andharmanik in Feni.

"There were isolated instances of temporary internet disruption which was exaggerated as internet shutdown. No such instruction was given," Nahid said, adding, "There is no evidence that the internet was suspended in the CHT or any other place for a long time."

He urged all to verify facts with the relevant authorities before spreading misinformation.

Nahid highlighted the region's long-standing internal issues, stressing that these problems must be solved domestically.

He also urged people to remain vigilant as various efforts are being made to destabilise the country.

Regarding rehabilitation of flood-affected people, he said the government wanted to complete rehabilitation as soon as possible.
The Adviser said that the Ministry would take projects for permanent solution of the flood-hit areas.

He expressed satisfaction over relief distribution in Feni.

"I hope everyone will get home. None will remain homeless," he said.

Nahid blamed India for the flood.

Among others, Feni District Commissioner Musammat Shahina Akter, Superintendent of Police Md Habibur Rahman, Chhagalnaiya Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sarwar Hossen Komol and Fulgazi UNO Taniya Bhuiyan were present at that time.

Later on, the Adviser along with other officials visited grave of Martyred Ishtiaque Ahmed Shrabon who was killed during the July Revolution and prayed for his departed soul.
