The renowned NGO, TMSS, will oversee the planting and care of the saplings for the next three years until they reach full maturity.
At a ceremony held at the Commercial Bank of Ceylon's Head Office in Hadi Tower, Gulshan 2 recently, the CSR contribution was officially handed over by the bank's CEO, Najith Meewanage, to the Founder Executive Director of TMSS, Prof. Dr. Hosne Ara Begum.
Also present at the event were Kasun Herath, Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer of Commercial Bank, Mahmud Hossain, Deputy CEO and Head of Corporate Banking, along with senior officials from both organizations, says a press release.
This project is expected to have a profound environmental impact, contributing to ecological balance, climate regulation, and overall environmental health. It will also play a crucial role in improving air quality, conserving soil, controlling erosion, regulating the water cycle, conserving biodiversity, and sequestering carbon, helping to mitigate climate change. In addition, local communities will benefit from the fruits, herbal remedies, and wood supply provided by the trees.
