Asia Insurance approves 11pc cash dividend

Asia Insurance Limited has approved an 11% cash dividend for the financial year ending December 31, 2023, at its 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM), which was held virtually via a digital platform recently, says a press release. 

The AGM was presided over by the Vice Chairman, Mohammed Jahangir Alam, with a large number of shareholders participating online. The Managing Director and CEO, Md. Imam Shaheen, also addressed the meeting, highlighting the company's financial performance.

For the year 2023, the company reported a gross premium income of Tk. 744,324,796 and a profit before tax of Tk. 136,100,889.

The total assets of the company at the end of the year stood at Tk. 2,565,858,156. Despite challenges, shareholders expressed their satisfaction with the company's performance and supported the proposal to change the company's name from "Asia Insurance Limited" to "Asia Insurance PLC."

Additionally, the shareholders re-elected three directors: Khaleda Begum, Mohammad Mustafa Haider, and Walid Mohammed Shamuel. Asia Insurance has maintained an AA+ credit rating since 2020.
