Ex-MP George sent to jail

Selim Altaf George, former lawmaker from Kushtia-4 constituency, has been sent to jail after remand in a case filed on charge of killing an auto-rickshaw puller named Md Roni at Mohammapur in Dhaka during student movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arafatul Rakib passed the order on Monday (September 23) as Sub-Inspector of Mohammadpur Police Station Altaf Hossain, also the investigating officer (IO) of the case, produced George before the court after the end of his five-day remand in two phases and pleaded to keep him in jail.

Earlier, on September 17, the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Altaf from Lalmatia in a murder case filed with Mohammadpur Police Station.
