BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman said on Monday, "We have to work together to achieve economic freedom."
Speaking at a rally virtually at Sirajgang Old Stadium he said, "Not only political freedom but also economic freedom is essential to build a prosperous Bangladesh. To achieve this goal we have to work together."
Tarique Rahman said, "Without elected government it is difficult to ensure development of the country and achieve the goals of martyrs of the recent student-people movement."
He said, if the BNP comes to power again, the party will ensure food security of each family by providing them "Family Cards". The card will be issued in the name of the mother or homemaker of the family.
Tarique also urged all the people to remain united to build a prosperous Bangladesh.
He said, the interim government has to avoid taking decisions, which will rehabilitate the fallen fascist government.
Tarique Rahman provided financial assistance to the families of martyred and injured students and people.
"The BNP will take special initiatives to ensure food security and employment of every citizen," he said.
"Each citizen will be given the card gradually. Though initially, the underprivileged, especially in rural areas will be brought under the programme," Tarique said.
He said, "A portion of essential food items will be distributed for free through this card and it will be distributed to a maximum of four members per family."
Tarique urged all to remain united to foil conspiracies by the fallen fascist regime.
The rally, organised to mark the fall of the fascist regime and the journey to democracy, was attended by BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan and BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince and other district unit leaders.
