The government will strive to ensure justice that is acceptable to all people of Bangladesh and the international community, Adviser on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dr Asif Nazrul said on Monday.

"We have witnessed the injustices that have occurred in the name of justice in this country. Therefore, we are committed to ensuring fair justice," he stated.

Asif Nazrul made these comments during a discussion meeting on the amendment of the "International Crimes (Tribunal) Act, 1973," held at the Judicial Administration Training Institute in the capital on Monday.

Regarding the recent mass killings in the country, he stated that the older generation was madly addicted to killing a young generation of the country. "No matter the pain, frustration, or anger we feel, it is essential that this murder trial is accepted by everyone," he said.

Dr. Asif Nazrul also said that a prosecution and investigation team has already been formed to facilitate the activities of the International Crimes Tribunal.

"Now the main challenge for us is to reconstitute the Board (Tribunal). We have now taken the initiative to reform the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act, 1973. Our reform efforts will not stop here. The Act will be amended with the input of all those who are experts on the subject," he added.

Earlier, in the meeting, the proposed draft amendment was presented to make the "International Crimes (Tribunal) Act, 1973" timely.

The proposed draft amendments include 3 new sections namely 4A, 13A and 20A and 2 new sub-sections namely 3(3) and 12(2). Besides, amendments are proposed in Section 3(2)(a), 4(2) and Section 19.    —UNB
